Jaibe Di Girolamo, Jonathan Simcoe die in horror Gunning truck crash
A Victorian truckie and his passenger are being mourned after they were both killed in a deadly truck crash on the Hume Hwy, north of Canberra.

Two Victorian men have been identified as the victims of a horror double fatal crash on the Hume Hwy north of Canberra, between Goulburn and Yass.
Jonathan Simcoe of Wallan, 33, was driving a B-double northbound with his passenger Jaibe Di Girolamo of Kyabram, 19, through Gunning about 11.15pm on Monday when their vehicle crashed down an embankment.
Emergency services rushed to the crash near Collector Rd however Mr Simcoe and Mr Di Girolamo were found dead at the scene.
Tributes have flowed since their deaths as both of the men’s family and friends grapple with a future without them.
Mr Di Girolamo, a truck detailer, is being remembered for his love for trucking and his larrikin personality.
“I will forever cherish our memories and friendship, you’ve put a smile on so many people’s faces, including mine … party hard up there,” one friend wrote on social media.
“Fly high bud, gone but never will be forgotten,” another wrote.
The 19-year-old’s workplace, Fred’s Interstate Transport, took to Facebook to pay tribute to the young worker after his sudden death.
“Your life was taken too soon RIP Young Fella (sic),” the post read.
Old friend of Mr Simcoe Nathan Hedges told the Canberra Star he would remember the truck driver and dad for his “larger than life” character.
“I knew him from high school and he was always a top bloke even back then,” Mr Hedges said.
“He was someone who would give the shirt off his back if you needed it and then help you put it on.
“Always looked out for his mates and loved his kids, definitely a life taken way too soon.”
A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic police and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has begun.
Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident, including motorists with dashcam vision, to contact Goulburn or Yass Police, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
