Strike Force Sulfur: Four men arrested after police raids

Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang paraphernalia, weapons, cocaine, testosterone and cash have allegedly been seized following police raids across Queanbeyan and Canberra.

Four men charged over alleged drug supply

Four men have been charged over an alleged drug supply operation after police raids in Queanbeyan and Canberra.

The arrests were made by officers attached to Strike Force Sulfur, a task-force established in September 2021 to investigate drug supply from Queanbeyan and Canberra areas.

On Tuesday the task-force searched eight homes in Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Franklin, ACT, where officers allegedly seized cocaine, steroids, prescribed drugs, testosterone, $70,000 in cash, knuckle dusters, a .22 calibre firearm, and illegal knife.

They also found Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang paraphernalia during the raids.

On Wednesday Queanbeyan men Joshua Cassie, 27, Peter Ellis, 33, and Jerrabomberra man Andrew Hallam, 25, faced Queanbeyan Local Court to bid for bail.

Mr Cassie is charged with 21 offences and was refused bail.

The charges levelled against Mr Cassie include the following drug related offences: four counts of supplying a prohibited drug, four counts of taking part in supplying a prohibited drug, two counts of supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, supplying prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis and possess a prescribed restricted substance.

He is charged with several offences relating to proceeds of crime and participating in criminal organisations; two counts of knowingly deriving material benefit from a criminal group, two counts recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime, knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime, and participating in a criminal group where he contributed to criminal activity,

Finally he is also charged with two counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit and not disclosing the identity of a passenger or driver.

Mr Ellis and Mr Hallam were granted bail at Queanbeyan Local Court.

Mr Hallam is charged with nine offences: supplying prohibited drug, taking part in supplying a prohibited drug, supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, participation in a criminal group contribute criminal activity, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, knowingly derive material benefit from criminal group, possessing anabolic or androgenic steroids, possessing ammunition without a licence and possessing goods licence/permit/authority, and,

Goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle).

Mr Ellis is charged with six offences; two counts of taking part in the supply of a prohibited drug, two counts of supplying a prohibited drug, possessing a prohibited drug, and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

The three men will return to Queanbeyan Local Court on November 8.

A 37-year-old Queanbeyan man was also arrested by officers attached to Strike Force Sulfur but was granted police bail.

He is charged with eight offences; two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, two counts of being in possession of goods suspected to be stolen, two counts of possessing anabolic or androgenic steroids, supplying a trafficable quantity of a prohibited drug and being an owner or occupier who knowingly allowed the use of his house as a drug premises.

He will face Queanbeyan Local Court on October 10.
