A jury has found a man guilty of a brazen 2018 ram raid of a Queanbeyan pub in a stolen ute following a trial at the Queanbeyan District Court.

On Wednesday Matthew Alan Taylor was found guilty of all three charges against him; robbery armed with a dangerous weapon, taking and driving a conveyance without the consent of the owner and destroying property with fire.

The jury took six hours and five minutes to come to their decision.

During the trial the jury heard Taylor stole a dark Mitsubishi Triton between November 11 and November 15 2018 while the ute’s owner was overseas.

At 12.30am on November 15, 2018 Taylor, clad in dark clothes with a grey head covering, drove the stolen Triton into Hotel Queanbeyan before entering the property to steal $27,965.40 in cash.

Taylor was armed with a firearm and shots were fired during the incident.

Following the brazen ram raid, Taylor drove the triton to a property in Pilliago, ACT, where he set the car alight before fleeing.

The owner of the Pillago property previously told the court the car fire blocked the only entry to his property.

The convicted ram-raider did not apply for bail and bail was refused by District Court Judge Nicole Noman.

Taylor will face Sydney’s Downing Centre for sentencing on November 18.
