Simon Paul Jeffery mourned after dying in Braidwood ute crash

A beloved Braidwood father is being remembered for his larger than life personality after losing his life in a deadly ute rollover in the Southern Tablelands.

A loving husband, father and fisherman has been farewelled after dying in a devastating crash in Braidwood.

Simon Paul Jeffery, affectionately known as “Scoofa” was driving along Cooma Rd when his ute ran off the road and rolled before 8pm on April 17.

Emergency services rushed to the crash however the 52-year-old tragically died at the scene.

The Braidwood father has since been remembered as a great story teller, fisherman, linesman and more.

For his wife Milisa Jeffery, she would remember her “great husband” for being a loving dad, son, and brother.

“He was a great man,” she said.

Mr Jeffery’s son Harry said his dad was much loved by his family and was a great community man who would always help others

Tributes flowed online since his death, remembering “Scoofa” for the love he had for those around him.

“A larrikin and all round good bloke,” one friend wrote.

“A great man and larger than life character than can never be matched … I’m blessed to have had him as a mate,” another wrote.

“He will be so deeply missed by all who knew him.”

Mr Jeffery was remembered at his funeral in Braidwood on Monday, surrounded by friends and family at the St Bedes Catholic Church.

He leaves behind his wife, his children Ned, Harry and Matilda, his parents Brenda and Paul and brothers David and Marty.

Officers attached to Monaro Police District are conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
