A young Albion Park dad has been remembered as a loving soul after he lost his life in a crash at Sutton on the weekend.
Shane Williams was driving home from a roofing job at Canberra for his handyman business about 1am on April 15 when his ute collided with a semi-trailer on the Federal Hwy.
The 23-year-old roofer tragically died at the scene, while the 53-year-old truck driver was taken for mandatory testing.
Tributes have flowed in the days since his death, honouring the life of a beloved family man, father and friend.
Former partner and mother of his three-year-old child Kiara Lêa said the Albion Park dad was the best father to their “little bear” who loved him so much.
Ms Lêa said the pair were best friends after being mates for 13 years and together for five, where they brought little Iyiesha-May Williams into the world.
“Shane was our absolute rock, everyday I wake up and look at his daughter and just wish this was a big dream,” Ms Lêa said. “And as your little girl would say ‘to the moon and back again’ then you would say ‘and back again’. We love you bear … forever and always.”
The small business owner, who loved to be on the water in his boat, four wheel driving or motorbike riding, was mourned on social media by close family and friends.
Evey Rose said in a touching tribute online she would remember her “cheeky” nephew who grew into a young “happy” man.
“I’m so glad you knew that I loved you,” she wrote. “I’ll cherish that last hug we had always and forever … I’m so proud of the wonderful young man you became.
“You were and always will be a wonderful kind soul and I’ll carry you in my heart forever.”
A GoFundMe has been created to help raise funds for Mr Williams’ funeral and his family after his death.
