Peter John McMinn: Man to be sentenced over kangaroo killing

A group of youngsters drove at and bludgeoned several kangaroos to death with hammers in a shocking attack later shared to TikTok. One of the only adults in the group has faced court over the vile attack.

A Googong man will be sentenced over an incident where he and his friends drove at and bludgeoned kangaroos with hammers.

Peter John McMinn, 21, has pleaded guilty to torturing, beating and causing the death of an animal, relating to an incident which occurred in the early hours of April 18, 2020.

According to the statement of agreed facts tendered to the court McMinn - accompanied by four friends - travelled to Royalla, NSW, where he drove at kangaroos with his vehicle “for some fun”.

The statement says video footage of the violent acts against the animals was recorded.

This includes footage of the car driving into a female kangaroo, with one occupant heard yelling “about time” after the animal was hit.

Shortly after, footage depicts the car driving at a buck kangaroo, which later jumped around a roundabout.

A person is heard yelling “yeah you would like the roundabout you f----t c--t.”

The documents state video captured another person yell out “I hope you coat-hanger yourself on the fence f----t”, and shortly after the car drove at four kangaroos crossing a roadway with one occupant in the car being heard shouting “how many can you get”.

Just past 4am, court documents state the video depicts the car driving at a group of two female kangaroos and a joey.

One person in the car is heard to say “get the f--king baby I want to bang it over the bullbar”.

Parts of the video were edited and uploaded to Tik Tok by McMinn’s co-accused.

The video was later reported to the Rural Crime investigation team in late 2021.

On May 9, court documents state McMinn “made full admissions” to his involvement in the incident.

McMinn was due to be sentenced on Monday however his matter was stood down, with the man due to learn his fate at a later date.
