Operation Toric: Canberra’s police kept busy during long weekend
Police officers in Canberra have been busy over the long weekend with 12 people being arrested as part of Operation Toric. Find out what happened

Police have arrested 12 people over the Labour Day long weekend as part of Operation Toric.
ACT Policing established Operation Toric in August to target motor vehicle theft, dangerous driving and other offences in the nation’s capital.
Police officers arrested a 42-year-old Bonython man on Saturday who they allege was caught riding a motorcycle with stolen plates.
Police say the man was riding 60 km/h over the speed limit along the Monaro Hwy in heavy traffic and rainy conditions.
Officers connected to Operation Toric forcibly removed the man from the motorcycle and charged him with offences including driving while disqualified, drug-driving, aggravated reckless driving, unlawful possession of stolen property and breaching an Intensive Corrections Order.
On Monday officers arrested a 28-year-old woman, and two men, aged 24 and 27, at three locations.
Police allege they located a stolen white van in Macgregor relating to the three arrests.
In a separate incident, two 15-year-old boys and a 23-year-old man were arrested following a foot pursuit after they were found driving a stolen grey Hyundai Santa Fe Conder at 1.15pm on Monday.
Police allege the car was stolen on Saturday and allege the man and the two boys were clad in masks while driving the car.
Officers allege the 23-year-old man was in breach of a good behaviour order.
During the long weekend general duty officers from Tuggeranong arrested a 49-year-old woman following a raid where a substance suspected of being methamphetamine.
Finally at 4.25 PM Operation Toric Members located a stolen parked Ford Territory in Civic.
Officers observed a group of four teenage boys, aged 14, 15, and two aged 16, enter the vehicle.
The boys were all charged with traffic, property and drug offences, and one of the 16-year-old boys was charged with breaching a good behaviour order.
