World champ in driver’s seat for Australian Open Indoor Skydiving Championships

Teen Amy Watson is set to lead the Australian charge at the 2019 Australian Open Indoor Skydiving Championships.

Four months after claiming a historic indoor skydiving world championship, Dean Park 14-year-old Amy Watson is set to strut her stuff on home soil at the 2019 Australian open championships.

Held at iFLY Indoor Skydiving Penrith on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24, the Australian open will see more than 300 of the world’s best indoor skydivers battle it out in the air at the biggest indoor skydiving facility in the southern hemisphere.

Amy will be leading the charge for the Aussie contingent after becoming the sport’s youngest ever world champion earlier this year.

“We have been supporting Amy’s career in professional indoor skydiving since she first stepped into the tunnel back in 2013,” Indoor Skydiving Australia Group national marketing manager Cheryl Dawson said.

“We are incredibly proud of Amy and all our talented sponsored athletes and can’t wait to see them all compete at the Australian Open.”

Australian competitors who medal at the Australian open will earn automatic qualification for the 2020 Indoor Skydiving World Cup in Charleroi, Belgium.
