Woman charged over Kings Langley crash which left elderly passenger critically injured

A woman has been charged with negligent driving over a crash in Kings Langley at the weekend which left her elderly passenger with critical injuries, police say.

A woman who allegedly ran through a red light in Kings Langley and caused a crash which critically injured her elderly passenger, has been charged.

Police allege the 45-year-old woman was driving an orange Nissan Micra along Sunnyholt Rd at about 8.40am on Saturday, July 7, when she failed to stop at a red light at James Cook Dr.

The car collided with an oncoming black Lexus, which was attempting to turn right onto James Cook Dr.

The woman’s 79-year-old passenger was critically injured in the crash, with Quakers Hill police performing CPR on the woman at the scene.

The elderly passenger was taken Westmead Hospital where she had emergency surgery and remains in a critical condition.

The driver was also taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition for observation and mandatory testing.

The driver of the Lexus, a 51-year-old man, was uninjured.

At 11.30am on Monday, July 8, the 45-year-old driver attended Riverstone Police Station, where she was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and not stopping at a red light.

She was granted bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on July 29.
