The disturbing details of a married man’s online chats with a 14-year-old girl have been revealed after he admitted to asking her for naked photos and sending a photo of his genitals.
Steven Phillip Lovell, 38, of Quakers Hill, has pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to transmit indecent material to a person under 16 and soliciting child abuse online after he was arrested by police last December.
However, he has denied a further charge of using a carriage service to groom a 14-year-old girl for sex.
New details can be revealed as Lovell faces up to 15 years in jail for soliciting child abuse material online.
According to court documents, Lovell began speaking to undercover police who were using the identity of a 14-year-old girl in September last year via social media.
Between September 19 and October 8, police allege Lovell engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the girl, while being fully aware of her age, via his accounts ‘HardnThick’ and ‘ComicNerd’.
Police documents showed Lovell had allegedly messaged the girl, “Wanna meet up and have some fun with a married man?” before sending her an image of himself standing naked in front of a bathroom mirror and another of his genitals.
During the interactions, police say Lovell also asked the girl to send him naked photos.
“This is a long shot, but can I see you naked?” Lovell asked.
“Take a pic and send it to me and then delete it.”
When the girl replied that she would get into trouble for doing so, Lovell responded, “Nobody will know”.
As the conversation continued, the girl told Lovell he could take some photos of her if they met up, to which he replied, “Deal”.
Police allege over the three weeks, Lovell sent two naked photos and had a multitude of conversations with the girl.
During a police interview, he denied having intentions to actually meet the girl and said he was trying to cease communicating with her due to her young age.
However, he did admit to sending the girl explicit images.
Mr Lovell was released on bail in February after a successful application in the Supreme Court.
He will stand trial on the child grooming charge in June next year, with the proceedings expected to take up to five days.
A sentencing date for the other charges is yet to be set down.
