Sinno Chinese Cuisine Blacktown a great option for dining out

A FEW weeks ago, the Advocate sampled cheeseburger dumplings for our dining feature. Whether crammed in spring rolls or dumplings, this is the latest food fad.

A FEW weeks ago, the Advocate sampled cheeseburger dumplings for our dining feature. Whether crammed in spring rolls or dumplings, this is the latest food fad. They were delicious, but if you prefer these deep-fried entrees stuffed the traditional way, you can’t go past Chinese.

We began our classic Chinese dinner at Sinno’s Blacktown with the mixed starters of dim sim, spring roll and prawn toast — a good start at the eatery where you will also find warm service.

The way our meals were presented stands out from many other suburban Chinese restaurants.

The salt and pepper squid ($19.80) and duck with plum sauce ($20.80) were pleasantly garnished with a flower and vibrant vegetables.

The squid was delicious and not overly salty.

We ordered a side of fried rice — a staple of this Asian chow down — and a dish my dining companion uses as the barometer for Chinese food. It gets the tick of approval.

Duck is my favourite Asian dish and Sinno’s serving was meaty and topped with chunks of pineapple.

Half ducks are served boneless and with sauce options of lemon and crabmeat.

Garlic beef ($20.80) is part of our banquet and pleases with generous portions and flavour.

There’s also a nice dose of beans, carrots and onions for balance.

There are seafood options including the favourites — king prawns and deep fry fish.

The chef suggestions on the comprehensive menu include seafood combination, pork ribs in peking sauce and boneless lemon chicken.

Dessert includes banana split and pineapple fritters.

For those stopping by for lunch, take advantage of the $10 lunch special with a choice of meal with rice or noodles and a drink.

For diners in a hurry, there are penny pleasing deals for $8 or $9.

For those with time to sit and savour dinner, Sinno’s is a good place to do it.

It’s a spacious restaurant and it’s also licensed to take in a tipple with family or friends. Grab some prawn chips and fortune cookies to top off a casual eating experience.
