Commuters at Rooty Hill will have an extra 250 car parking spaces as part of upgrades to the station.
The State Government announced that an additional two levels of parking would be included in the construction of a multi-storey commuter car park at Rooty Hill station.
The car park, which is currently under construction, will have 750 car parking spaces over six levels — a boost from original plans for a 500-space car park over four levels.
Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Roads Eleni Petinos said further parking was included in response to community feedback.
“I am delighted to announce an extra two levels will be added to the multi-storey commuter car park at Rooty Hill Station following feedback received during the community consultation phase,” Ms Petinos said.
“The first floor of the car park is almost complete and work will start next on the piles and lift shafts.”
The car park will be the first on the Sydney Trains network to have 10 electric vehicle charging stations. It will also feature solar-powered lights and parking spaces for 10 motorcycles.
Work to improve access to the station is also underway, with ramps to the north and south of the station removed as work progresses on four station lifts and a pedestrian footbridge.
The upgrades are part of the State Government’s $2 billion Transport Access Program and are due to be complete by the end of the year.
