Sydney Zoo to host second round jobs fair at Rooty Hill for retail, hospitality, customer service roles

Sydney Zoo is looking to fill more than 150 jobs ahead of its opening in late 2019. The zoo will hold round two of its jobs fair at Rooty Hill this month. Here’s how you can get involved.

Sydney has a new zoo on the way!

Ever wanted to work at a zoo? You might be in luck, with Sydney Zoo announcing round two of their jobs fair to be held later this month.

Information sessions will be held on Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1, as the zoo seeks to fill more than 150 roles.

The zoo has added two additional sessions on each date after earlier sessions booked out.

Positions will be available across retail, food and beverage, maintenance, ticketing and admissions and customer service.

The zoo is set to open at Bungarribee Super Park in late 2019 and has upwards of 150 positions available in the areas of life sciences, zoology, hospitality, maintenance, retail and administration.

Sydney Zoo advises it will begin advertising for the roles in the near future, with roles commencing over the coming months.

Anyone interested in working at the zoo is encouraged to attend.

A video of the sessions will be available to those unable to attend on the day.

The jobs fair follows on from earlier sessions held in March, which generated widespread interest.

Other roles available at the zoo include full-time senior keeper and general keeper roles across Australiana, reptiles, elephants and ungulates, aquatics, primates and carnivores.

Sydney Zoo will offer job training for its employees as it looks to partner with TAFE in development of a range of Cert III and Cert IV qualifications.

Sydney Zoo Managing Director Jake Burgess said the zoo was committed to creating hundreds of jobs for Western Sydney residents.

Mr Burgess said the zoo had a target of 10 per cent Indigenous employees and would partner with not-for-profit organisation Muru Muttigar in its recruitment.

Round Two of the Sydney Zoo Jobs Fair will be held in Tivoli Showroom, at Rooty Hill RSL Club — West HQ, 55 Sherbrooke Street, Rooty Hill, from 8pm.
