Quakers Hill man Baltej Lailna accused of murdering his wife, Kamaljeet Sidhu, appears in court
Baltej Lailna, who was charged with murdering his wife in their Quakers Hill home, has made his first appearance in court.

A man charged with brutally murdering his wife in Sydney’s northwest on Wednesday has appeared in court for the first time.
International student Kamaljeet Sidhu, 27, was found by her brother in a pool of blood on Wednesday inside the Quakers Hill house she lived in with her husband of four years, Baltej Singh Lailna.
Lailna, 31, appeared via video link at Parramatta Local Court wrapped in a grey blanket and downcast on Friday morning.
A Punjabi interpreter was used for Lailna.
His lawyer Mostafa Daoudie asked Magistrate Bree Chisholm if his client could be assessed for mental health issues.
However, the Magistrate said she was sure corrective services would make those services available.
Bail was not applied for and was formally refused.
The case was adjourned until July 17, with a brief to be served on July 3.
Police will allege Lailna, was found standing in the hallway with blood on his hands when they attended the scene on Wednesday night.
A 15cm kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon was allegedly found next to Ms Sidhu’s body.
Police Superintendent Jennifer Scholz said an apprehended violence order was taken out three weeks ago.
