Jason Sadler: Video shame after Deaf bowling tournament meet up

Shortly after a dad-of-six met a woman at the National Deaf Ten Pin Bowling comp, he received a video to his phone. What he did with it next has landed him in court.

A dad-of-six distributed a sexual video on Facebook of a woman he had met at the National Deaf Ten Pin Bowling Competition just weeks before.

Jason Sadler, 42, met his 25-year-old victim at the event in Orange back on April 3.

Blacktown Court heard the pair were at the event as spectators.

Shortly after meeting, the woman shared with Sadler an explicit video of her stripping and showing her genitalia.

Sadler then, between April 23 and April 26, distributed the private recording to a Facebook messenger chat of at least 30 members.

On April 28 he then resent it to the chat and then sent it to another two individuals.

However, the video then got back to the victim and she informed the police.

Sadler, who is deaf, was supported in court by a sign language interpreter.

His lawyer, Carolina Soto, asked the court for a non conviction, pointing to his good criminal record.

Magistrate Brian van Zuylen swiftly dismissed the request, adding: “I am seriously considering a prison sentence for this”.

He said: “The father of six should think how he would feel if someone shared a video of his children online.

“The video embarrasses and humiliates the victim.”

Sadler, from Lalor Park, pleaded guilty to the charge of intentionally distributing intimate image and video recording of victim exposing genitals without consent.

He was sentenced to a three year community corrections order and was fined $1,500. It was also made clear by Magistrate van Zuylen that as a condition of his community corrections order he must take reasonable actions to remove, retract, recover, delete or destroy any intimate image recorded or distributed within the next six months.
