A 62-year old truck driver who was pulled over for a routine stop check told the police “Whoops” when they discovered a bag of meth in his front shirt pocket.
Max Warren, 62, was driving a prime mover with a fully loaded trailer when he was directed into a truck inspection site on February 8 at approximately 11.55am on Mona Vale Road in Belrose.
The police conducted a random breath test and oral fluid test on the Blacktown man.
He provided a negative breath test for alcohol but the oral fluid test returned a positive result for meth and cannabis.
The police fact sheet stated that officers then searched Warren and his vehicle and located a small clear resealable plastic bag containing a crystal substance which was in the accused’s front pocket.
He told officers when they found it: “whoops”.
Upon further questioning Warren told officers he would “snort it” around “once a week.”
In Blacktown court on Tuesday, Magistrate Brian van Zuylen read out some of Warren’s previous crimes which included “drug supply and possession charges” that span “well over 20 years”.
Magistrate Brian van Zuylen labelled Warren’s behaviour “appalling”.
“Doesn’t a man your age have something better to do and spend your money on than drugs,” he said.
Warren pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle with illicit drug present in blood (second offence) and possessing a prohibited drug.
Magistrate Brian van Zuylen sentenced him to an 12-month disqualification and handed him a $1,900 fine.
