Luke Regan, Peter Boney in court over alleged Doonside bashing
A 20-year-old allegedly repeatedly bashed a man with a hockey stick over a pair of ‘stolen shoes’ in an attack which a court heard could have ‘resulted in death’.

A 20-year-old allegedly broke into another man’s home and repeatedly battered him with a hockey stick.
Blacktown Court heard the alleged violent incident was all over a pair of stolen shoes.
Luke Regan was arrested on September 6 over his alleged involvement in the violent break and enter at a home in Kildare Road, Doonside.
It is alleged he was with two others, Peter Boney and Robert Leuthwaite, at the time of the incident.
Police allege it is the latest in a string of shockingly violent incidents in the area.
The court heard that just a few roads away in Perigree Close in Doonside a teenager lost his life only a month ago.
Last week in the neighbouring suburb of Blacktown a 17-year-old lost his life after being stabbed in a brawl.
Regan, who is charged with break and enter and inflicting actual bodily harm, applied for bail through his lawyer at Blacktown Court on Tuesday, Tiara Relativo.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Fachin argued Regan is an unacceptable risk to the community.
He told the court Regan “struck the victim repeatedly with a hockey stick and smashed a window to break into the property.”
He told the court the “high end violence” could have “resulted in death.”
He said: “You can’t go around doing home invasions and causing violence to then get out on bail the next day.
“The significant strikes to the face and head that could have led to another death in the community.”
Magistrate Brian van Zuylen told the court it was “a strictly indictable offence” but decided to grant Regan bail as it was his understood that both his co-accused are out on bail.
Peter Boney, who is charged with stalk and intimidate with intent to cause fear or physical harm and destroy or damage property, faced Mount Druitt Court on Tuesday and was granted bail.
Robert Leuthwaite who is charged with aggravated break and enter to commit serious indictable offence, faced Parramatta Court on Sunday and was granted conditional bail.
All three remain before the courts and will be back again later this year.
