Jake Dillon allegedly stole multiple Mercedes, Ranger Rovers across Sydney

A young man accused of going on an alleged car-theft spree - including Mercs, a Range Rover and a BMW across Sydney - is facing almost 80 criminal charges.

A 20-year-old man accused of stealing scores of vehicles has been charged with 79 alleged

motor vehicle and theft offences.

The Financial Crimes Squad detectives charged Jake Dillon, 20, as investigations continue into a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in break and enters across Sydney including Harrington Park, The Ponds, Picton, Glenhaven, Mulgoa, Rosebery and Illawong.

Since November, detectives established Strike Force Swete to investigate criminal syndicates involved in the break-in offences.

So far during the investigation, 12 men – aged between 17 and 52 – have been charged over their alleged involvement in various syndicates. They remain before the courts.

In August, Mr Dillon was charged with 79 vehicle theft-related offences, including; steal from motor vehicle, aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime after police attended Silverwater Correctional Complex.

He was remanded in custody and fronted Parramatta Local Court on Thursday when no application for bail was made and the matter adjourned to November 18.

Court documents allege Mr Dillon, formerly of Doonside, stole multiple cars including a 2008 Mercedes AMG after breaking into a house at Highlands Way, Rouse Hill, when the occupants were home on November 12 about 2am.

He and another man are accused of breaking into a house at Rawson Pde, Caringbah South, on November 26 and allegedly stealing a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover about 2.30am.

The next day, police allege he and another man broke into a house at Thomas Boulton Circuit at Kellyville and stole a black Mercedes GLC between 3.30am and 4.30am.

Mr Dillon and the other man allegedly broke into a house at Curlew Ave, Newington, before stealing a Mercedes AMG A45 before 2am.

In southwest Sydney, police allege the pair broke into a house at Scottsdale Court, West Hoxton, and stole a Mercedes AMG C63.

Before Mr Dillon was charged in August, a 24-year-old man attended Riverstone police station the same month and was issued a court attendance notice for face blackened or disguised with intent to commit indictable offence, steal from motor vehicle, and three counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

Police will allege in court the man was involved in several break and enter offences in Sydney’s west in January and included the theft of a BMW X5.

The man was granted strict conditional bail and remains before the courts.

Investigations under Strike Force Swete are continuing and more arrests are expected.
