A man’s joy ride in a Ford Falcon XR6, reaching speeds of 171km/h in a 60km/h zone in western Sydney, has been described as “incredibly dangerous” in court.

Jagroop Singh Sagoo, 28, of Plumpton, appeared in Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty and sentenced for driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.

Court documents state Sagoo was driving along Glendenning Rd about 7pm on January 28 when he was clocked at a speed of 171km/h.

When he noticed the police, the Plumpton man broke harshly.

The police fact sheet stated the potential danger of Sagoo’s actions was “extreme” as he was approaching a blind crest, with driveways on either side of the road.

Sagoo was also handed an infringement notice for not complying with emission/silencer/noise standards as he did not have a rear muffler fitted to the vehicle.

In Mt Druitt Local Court, Magistrate Tim Keady said Sagoo was lucky he didn’t cause a serious accident.

“Your actions were incredibly dangerous and you were approaching a blind crest at a ridiculous speed,” he said.

Sagoo was fined $2000 and disqualified from driving for 18 months, from the date of the offence.
