A man and woman have been charged over a string of break-ins targeting Sydney pizza shops with the duo alleged to have made off with cash from 16 separate takeaway joints.

A man and woman have been charged over a string of break-ins targeting Sydney pizza shops with the duo alleged to have made off with cash from 16 separate takeaway joints.

Police will allege that in the early hours of January 14, Jacob Sutherland, 30, and Aime Pham, 27, broke into a Wentworthville pizza shop and allegedly stole cash from the business’s safe.

It is also alleged the duo were responsible for break-ins at a further 15 takeaway shops at Northmead, Wentworthville, Toongabbie, Fairfield Heights, Cecil Hills, North Parramatta, Blacktown, North Ryde, Bonnyrigg, Carnes Hill, Wetherill Park, Merrylands, Belmore, Fairfield Heights and Croydon Park.

Police said an investigation was launched after being notified of the string of alleged break-ins targeting pizza shops.

On Tuesday night, Pham and Sutherland were arrested at a hotel room in Prospect.

Police allege a search warrant of the room uncovered more than $3000 in cash and mobile phones.

The pair were taken to Blacktown Police Station and each charged with 17 counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling in company and steal.

Jacob Sutherland and Aime Pham were refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today.
