THE postman may always ring twice but it took three phone calls for a NSW Lotteries official to deliver the news to a Blacktown postie he had won the first prize of $100,000 in Tuesday’s Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.
The winning ticket was sold at AK NEWStalk at Westpoint Blacktown.
The middle aged postman was out on his bike delivering mail when NSW Lotteries contacted him but he was so certain he could not have won he hung up not once but twice.
But third time proved to be lucky after the winner remembered he had a registered ticket in the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.
“Fair dinkum! $100,000! Are you kidding me? I thought you were a scammer,” the ecstatic winner, who wanted to remain anonymous, said.
“I’m so sorry I hung up on you. I’ve never had anyone call me about a win before. It’s hard to believe! Are you sure it’s my ticket?
“Wow I wish my partner was here! She was excited when I told her about your other calls so I’m so glad you called me again with this news! Can you call her too because she won’t believe me.’’
The winning numbers were on a free ticket the postie had won in a previous draw.
“I’m not too sure what I’ll do with my $100,000 — everything’s up in the air now with this win.”
The win comes less than 12 months after the newsagency sold a $10 million winning ticket to a Blacktown grandmother last October.
