Blacktown man Jing Chen to fight drug supply charges after alleged meth bust in Murrumbateman

Police were targeting speeding and dangerous driving when they allegedly uncovered a cache of meth, cash, and material used in fake passports. A Blacktown man accused of the drugs haul will fight the charges in court.

A Sydney man allegedly busted supplying meth after a routine traffic stop in Murrumbateman in the state’s south allegedly revealed a cache of the illicit drug, as well as cash and passport photos, will fight the charges in court.

Jing Chen, 43, of Tallawong, pleaded not guilty late last year to possessing meth and an MDMA tablet, taking part in the supply of drugs, possessing the proceeds of crime and material for fake passports, and resisting arrest after he was stopped by police on July 17, 2022.

About 11.20am, Yass police were conducting patrols as part of Operation Furious – a task force targeting speeding – when they allegedly detected a Mitsubishi travelling 70km/h in a 50km/h zone on the Barton Hwy at Murrumbateman.

Officers pulled the vehicle over and the driver – Che Kin Foo, 38 – was subject to a roadside breath test.

After allegedly returning a positive reading, the driver allegedly fled the scene.

Chen, meanwhile, is alleged to have been aggressive with police before also attempting to flee.

During a search of the SUV, police allegedly found meth, MDMA, a blank passport, passport photos, six mobile phones, several credit cards and driver’s licences in various names, cash, electronic scales, and a crystal substance believed to be meth.

Foo was alleged to have been located walking along Dundoos Dr, Murrumbateman about 1.45pm after a foot pursuit.

The pair were both taken to Yass Police Station where Foo was charged with drug supply, possessing identity information, having goods believed to be stolen, resisting arrest, and refusing a breath test.

Foo has since pleaded not guilty to all charges, and will remain behind bars on remand.

Chen, who is currently on bail, will also fight the charges alongside Foo at a hearing at Goulburn Local Court on February 6.

Chen appeared at Blacktown Local Court where his bail was continued ahead of the February 6 hearing.
