An accused Rebels bikie who allegedly led police on a pursuit near Blacktown while being armed with a pistol will likely have his matter heard in the district court.
Jamie Saliba, 29, of Schofields, is yet to enter pleas to a string of charges relating to the alleged incident on March 25 in Dean Park and Glendenning.
Saliba faces 10 charges, including being involved in a police pursuit, possessing a loaded glock pistol with intent to commit an indictable offence and possessing a defaced firearm.
Police allege Saliba was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle on Richmond Rd, Dean Park, without displaying an authorised number plate when he came to officers’ attention.
When officers attempted to pull Saliba over, it’s alleged he accelerated away and led police on a chase through Dean Park and Glendenning.
Police say the pursuit had to be terminated on several occasions due to safety concerns, however, officers later arrested Saliba in a creek bed where had lost control of his motorcycle.
It’s alleged a loaded glock pistol was found in the vicinity the following day.
Police say a search of Saliba’s address located prohibited weapons, balaclavas, steroids and cash.
Saliba remained in custody for his appearance at Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday.
The matter will return to Blacktown Local Court on June 11 where it will be determined whether it will be referred to the district court.
