A man who allegedly left his partner in a “comatose state” will head to Lismore District Court.

Lismore Local Court heard on Wednesday the Northern Rivers man, who cannot be named, was appearing in regards to serious domestic violence allegations.

Those included aggravated sexual assault resulting in actual bodily harm and causing reckless grievous bodily harm.

The court previously heard the DPP prosecutor would allege the victim suffered “extensive injuries” and arrived at hospital in a “comatose state” and “haemorrhaging”.

The man appeared in person at the Wednesday proceedings, during which the DPP prosecutor handed up the two charges to be certified in Lismore District Court.

The alleged offender had previously been in custody since March but had his bail granted on May 12, due to a months-long delay in court proceedings.

The matter will be back before Lismore Local Court on July 28 for a further committal mention before the case proceeds to the higher court.

Magistrate Jeff Linden excused the man from appearing on that date if legally represented.
