Man, 72, killed in Bruce Highway crash at Kybong

Emergency crews rushed to the Bruce Highway after a crash between a car and a motorcycle left one local man dead. Here are the latest details.

Emergency crews on scene at Bruce Highway crash near Gympie

A 72-year-old motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car at Kybong on Sunday afternoon.

Police said on Monday that preliminary information indicated that around 1.15pm a motorcyclist was travelling south Old Bruce Highway when a car has turned right from Woondun Road onto the highway colliding with the motorbike.

The rider, a local man, died at the scene from their injuries.

The female driver of the car was taken to the Gympie Hospital with minor injuries.

Multiple emergency crews were on scene at a fatal traffic crash.

Both lanes of traffic were closed as emergency crews worked.

The incident comes as one man was critically injured in a late-night bike crash at Imbil in the Mary Valley around 10pm Friday.

The crash happened on Yabba Creek Rd and the 48-year-old Mt Archer man was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition with chest and spinal injuries.
