Man poured beer over his ex’s head, smashed windscreen with stubbie bottle

’One last chat’ with his former partner ended up with him pouring beer over her and an appearance in court.

Australia's Court System

A NSW man decided to have “one last chat” with his Brisbane-based ex-girlfriend and ended up pouring a beer over her head and smashing her windscreen with the bottle.

Christopher Snape pleaded guilty at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court to wilful damage and breaching a police protection notice.

The court heard Snape, 48, was in a short-lived relationship with a woman that ended poorly.

They decided to meet up “one last time” in her Toyota Rav4 at a public park.

But the two got into a verbal argument and Snape began throwing things out of her car.

The woman told Snape to get out of the car and he grabbed the beer he was drinking and poured it over her head.

He then through the bottle into the car’s windscreen, breaking it.

Snape lives in Albury-Wodonga on the NSW-Victorian border and could not get into Queensland to appear in court.

He appeared over the phone and had lawyer Shaun Kolo represent him in court.

Mr Kolo said Snape had not had any contact with the woman since the offence and now lived in NSW.

He was sentenced to three months prison, immediately suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay $500 restitution for the damage to the windscreen.
