Five rushed to hospital following Maroochydore house fire, Sunshine Coast

Police and firefighters continue to investigate the cause of a blaze that injured five people including a toddler, a baby and a badly burnt man as daylight reveals the extent of the damage. PHOTOS.

Police and fire investigators continue to probe a Maroochydore townhouse blaze that injured five people including a toddler, a baby and a badly burnt man.

The trio was rushed to hospital after a two-storey townhouse was fully engulfed in a horror house fire on the Sunshine Coast overnight.

Emergency services were called to the house fire at Tepequar Drive at 10pm, Monday night.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said the house was “well involved” upon arrival and that crews had the fire fully out by 11pm.

Ambulance crews rushed one man with burns to his back and arms in a potentially-life threatening condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

One woman in her 30s with burns to her feet and smoke inhalation was taken in a stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

One boy toddler was taken in a stable condition with smoke inhalation to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

One baby boy with smoke inhalation was taken stable to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

And another stable man with a shoulder injury was taken to Buderim Private Hospital.

The QFD spokeswoman said fire investigators and police remained on scene this morning.

A police spokeswoman confirmed police were there Tuesday morning and a crime scene had been declared.

A police spokesman later said it appeared to be a non suspicious fire but investigations were ongoing.
