Kerry Parnell: Prince William should be thankful for some Aussie biffo

Just when it looked like Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud was never going to get knocked off the headlines, along comes the most Aussie biffo ever, courtesy of Michael Clarke and Karl Stefanovic.

And while the expletive-packed footage of the altercation in Noosa isn’t super-sportsmanlike on the part of the ex-Australian captain, William, for one, must be thanking the cricket gods someone else made a big enough balls-up to take the attention off him and Harry. Pup batted it out of the park.

It is one of the most entertaining dust-ups since David Gyngell’s bogan brawl with James Packer in a Bondi street in 2014.

There’s not a person on the planet who hasn’t had a row and regretted it the morning.

Although it has to be noted, I have only ever uttered the words, “See you next Tuesday,” when actually making arrangements to meet someone in the near future. It’s also a relief for us nobodies that people don’t usually film our misdemeanours (hopefully), or pen tell-alls (any siblings reading this, I really, really, love you.)

Still, Clarkie and Karlos are in good company, as they are up there with the War of the Windsors in 2023’s biggest brouhahas and it’s still only January. After thoroughly airing all their dirty laundry, the only way forward for Michael and Karl and William and Harry, is a boil wash and new start. You never know, once they’ve bashed out all their problems, there may be a chance of reconciliation.

Both pairs can take hope from what looks to be one of the biggest break-up make-ups ever, as warring brothers the Gallaghers could be on the brink of patching up their relationship after years of insult-slinging. Oasis split up in 2009, after which the pair looked back with nothing but anger. Noel once hit Liam with a cricket bat and said, “He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”

On Wednesday, Liam tweeted he had just had Noel “on the phone begging for forgiveness”, adding, “bless him, wants to meet up.” He asked his 3.6 million followers whether he should see his estranged brother or “f-him off”. It’s not confirmed if he’s planning to see him next Tuesday or some other date.

Ironically, one of the first to reply, was musician Graham Coxon, of Blur – part of Britpop’s biggest feud in the 1990s – who reckoned, “Do it.” Noel, who announced his separation from wife Sara MacDonald this week, told BBC Radio, “you should never say never”, to the notion of an Oasis reunion.

Now all we need is to end that other troubling tiff, between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall. Kim, who played Samantha in Sex and the City, is the one co-star who refused to come back for reboot And Just Like That, with the writers subsequently reducing Samantha to a series of text messages. But with new images appearing of Carrie reuniting with old love Aidan (John Corbett) in the second series, imagine if Kim could put it all behind her, dust off her Manolos and march right back to the future. Now that would be a headline.
