A Pottsville mum has made a disgusting discovery as her child was playing on a slide at Ambrose Brown Park on Sunday afternoon.
The mum, who asked not to be named, said she was at the playground at 5pm with her daughter, a friend and her friend’s son when she noticed the an open packet with the words “stay safe” on it.
“I thought ‘no way’ and kept spotting more and finally the one which had been used,” she said.
She called her friend over when her daughter saw the wrapper.
“My friend’s son saw it and he is older - almost four - and asked my friend ‘what is it mum?’,” she said.
Tweed Shire Council Parks and Active Communities manager Stewart Brawley said this was a “disgusting act.”
“I would encourage residents to report incidents like this to council immediately – this ensures they are safely cleared up as soon as possible,” Mr Brawley said.
“Incidents which could pose a risk to the public can be reported to Council 24/7 by calling 02 6700 2400.”
He said the park and playground were cleaned regularly.
“Fortunately we have never experienced anything like this in the past,” he said.
“There is good visibility throughout the park which aims to discourage anti-social behaviour and Ambrose Brown Park is not known to council as an area with a history of anti-social behaviour however, if the public sees this type of activity taking place they should call NSW Police.”
A New South Wales Police spokeswoman said the incident was a matter for the council.
