Strike Force McClelland: Graham Keys Smith arrested in Tweed during ongoing drug operation

A 41-year-old man has been refused bail after allegedly threatening police with a box cutter knife, scissors and another knife. This arrest is linked to the dramatic arrest of three people at a northern NSW service station this week.

A 41-year-old man has been refused bail after allegedly threatening police with a box cutter knife, scissors and another knife.

His arrest was linked to the investigation connected to the dramatic arrest of three people on Wednesday at a Tweed Heads service station.

Graham Keys Smith, of Tweed Heads, was charged with five counts of possessing a prohibited drug, four counts of indictable drug supply and using a weapon to prevent arrest.

Police raided a Flamingo Place home at Tweed Heads about 2pm on Thursday.

Strike Force McClelland investigators, officers from the Tweed/Byron Police District and the Tactical Operations Regional Support Unit allegedly seized cannabis, cocaine, a human growth hormone and meth at the house.

Police allege Smith threatened officers with a box cutter knife before arming himself with scissors and another knife to avoid being detained.

Smith was arrested several hours later and taken to the Tweed Valley Hospital to treat a pre-existing injury.

He was then taken to Tweed Heads police station and charged.

Smith was refused bail at Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday.

Smith was the seventh person arrested during the SF McClelland investigation, with the five others, including Natasha Lee Wilson Lam, 37, Michael Parkinson-Cumine, 51, Lindsay Mark Martin, 34, Sarah Morrow, 48 and Scott Bradley Martin, 42, being charged with drug and firearm related offences.

Jake Allan Smith, 28, has also been charged with drug offences.

They are all faced court and remain in custody.

Graham Keys Smith will return to court on August 19.
