Former NRL player Michael Gordon will be forced to wait another two months before he can contest drug supply charges in court.

Gordon appeared in Tweed Heads Local Court on Thursday represented by lawyer Michael McMillan.

The 38-year-old faces two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, to which he has pleaded guilty, and two counts of part in supplying cocaine and MDMA, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

Gordon was arrested in his Casuarina home in November 2020 after a six-month investigation into alleged drug supply on the Gold Coast and in the Tweed.

It is alleged that Gordon was part of a cross border cocaine syndicate.

In a bizarre administration matter, the prosecution amended the wording of the two contested charges.

Charge three now alleges Gordon supplied MDMA instead of cocaine, and charge four alleges he supplied cocaine instead of MDMA.

Gordon maintained his not guilty pleas.

Crown prosecutor Lachlan Kirby tendered statements from five witnesses, a search warrant, a property seizure exhibit and downloads of cell phone messages as the prosecution’s evidence.

After waiting seven-and-a-half hours at court on Thursday, Mr Gordon’s case the court ran out of time for the hearing and the matter was adjourned to January 27 at Murwillumbah Local Court.
