Logan man charged with historic child sex offences

A Logan man accused of the historical sexual assault of three girls had his matter mentioned in court on Friday.

The 67-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces four counts of sexual intercourse with person under the age of 10 years, six counts of aggravated indecent assault where the victim was under authority of the offender and aggravated sex assault where the victim was under authority of offender.

He has not entered pleas to those charges.

The man faces a further charge of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner which he has pleaded not guilty to.

Police allege the man assaulted three girls, then aged eight, 11 and 13, on several occasions between 1995 and 2004 at Doon Doon, Leeville, Upper Mongogarie, Baryulgil and Tenterfield.

The youngest victim was aged five during the first alleged offences of sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault.

The matter was mentioned in the Tweed Heads Local Court on Friday where the accused did not appear.

The defence told the court they had been served with partial briefs of evidence however they were not compliant at this stage.

The court was told four of the five sets of proceedings against him were strictly indictable and are expected to proceed to a higher court.

The fifth set of charges will remain in the Local Court and were adjourned to November 19.

The remaining charges were adjourned to January 14, 2022. The man remains on remand.
