A woman blamed with wrecking the marriage of a longtime friend has faced court after a late night text message exchange was followed by an uninvited home visit.

A Northern NSW woman blamed with wrecking the marriage of a longtime friend has faced court after a late night text message exchange was followed by an uninvited home visit.

Emiliana Portillo, 52, of Piggabeen, appeared before Tweed Heads Local Court on November 7, accused of trespassing on enclosed land without a lawful excuse.

Court documents state Portillo was involved in an affair with the victim’s husband, and that had brought the end of the marriage.

Portillo denies the affair allegation.

Police facts state Portillo contacted the victim via text message at about 11.30pm on October 17, saying she wanted to come to the woman’s home, who replied she did not want to speak with her.

At about 1am, the victim was FaceTiming her family when Portillo arrived at the home.

Police facts state Portillo opened the front door and called to the victim from the hallway.

The victim shouted at Portillo to get out of the house, grabbing her and pulling her hair.

Court documents reveal Portillo sat on the living room floor, rambling, “I’ve been a bad friend”, and denying she had been cheating with the victim’s ex-partner.

Police facts state Portillo claimed the victim had assaulted her, showing minor bruises and scratches on her body.

Portillo admitted to being inside the victim’s premises for about 20 minutes.

Portillo’s defence lawyer said his client and the victim had been friends for 30 years.

Magistrate Geoff Dunlevy said Portillo’s offence covered a broad spectrum of trespassing and acknowledged her plea of guilty at the first opportunity.

“You’re genuinely remorseful for what you have done, and this is unlikely to happen again,” Mr Dunlevy said.

Mr Dunlevy convicted Portillo and fined her $150.
