From a man who miscounted his drinks on New Year’s Eve to a P plater dropping his friends home, a number of people have pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Each week a number of people front court and plead guilty to drink driving offences.
Here are the people who pleaded guilty in Murwillumbah Local Court on Monday.
Jody Maxwell Mannion
Jody Maxwell Mannion, 56, was caught on New Year’s Eve leaving a hotel in Coolangatta.
Mannion, a crane driver and volunteer lifesaver, recorded a reading of 0.114 when he was stopped on The Quarterdeck at Tweed Heads.
His lawyer told the court Mannion had tried to get a taxi but struggled because it was busy on New Years and thought he would be right to drive.
Mannion was convicted and fined $750 and given the minimum driving disqualification and interlock periods.
Shayne David Mcguire
A Lennox Head man drove for about 30 minutes before police stopped him for breath test, according to court papers.
Shayne David Mcguire, 50, was stopped on the Minjungbal Drive exit on the M1 on at 1.17pm on January 2.
He told police initially he hadn’t been drinking before saying he had drunk his last drink at Pacific Pines.
He told police he’d drunk 10 VB beers and two wine and vodkas at a friends house before returning a reading of 0.083.
Taking into account a previous drink driving offence in 2018, Mcguire was convicted and fined $1000 and sentenced to a community correction order for 12 months.
He was given the minimum licence disqualification and interlock periods.
Brady Kent Lee Middleton
A Dum Dum P-plater got hit with a double penalty when he was caught drink driving and not displaying his provisional plates.
Brady Kent Lee Middleton, 23, was caught on Kyogle Rd at Bray Park at 10.05pm on December 30, 2021.
Police noticed the P2 licence holder wasn’t displaying his p plates and Middleton was given an infringement notice.
He returned a roadside reading of 0.191 before he was taken to Murwillumbah police station and returned an official reading of 0.150.
At the time he had two passengers in the car who said they’d been drinking at the Imperial Hotel.
Middleton told police he was dropping his friends home to Bray Park and admitted to having four glasses of wild turkey and coke between 4.30pm and 8.30pm.
He was convicted and sentenced to an 18-month community correction order with the minimum licence disqualification and interlock periods.
