A Banora Point man has been charged after he was allegedly busted with a haul of drugs and cash in a stolen Dodge Ram worth about $160,000.
Tweed-Byron Police District officers allege the large US-imported vehicle was wrapped in a different colour.
Samuel Haydn Ross, 32, faced Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday after he was arrested on Friday night.
Police allege they stopped the Ram on Lundberg Dr, South Murwillumbah and Ross was driving with a disqualified licence.
“It is alleged the man resisted and attempted to run away,” the police district states.
“The man was arrested and the utility searched. Police seized over $10,000 cash, prohibited drugs cocaine, methylamphetamine and electronic items.
“Upon close inspection, the utility wrapping was removed and revealed a different colour. “Investigators discovered the utility was stolen in May from a Lennox Head address.”
It’s alleged the vehicle’s VIN number had been changed.
Ross has been charged with two counts of supplying a prohibited drug, three counts of possessing a prohibited drug and one count each of driving a car while disqualified – second offence, resisting police, driving a stolen car, knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime and dishonestly interfering with a VIN plate.
Ross was refused bail on Monday.
