A luxury $7 million seven-unit complex with a pool and basement parking has been given the green light for the beachfront in Kingscliff.

Tweed Valley Council approved the project in December last year after a few relatively minor setbacks.

AS Projects director Andrew Speirs said the complex has faced challenges, but he praised his consultants and Tweed Shire Council for getting the development application across the line.

“It’s been quite rewarding to get the DA,” he said.

“Tweed council have been helping us through the process and it was good to get the DA passed in December last year – it’s very exciting.”

Mr Speirs said the project would be the first new luxury beachfront development in the Tweed town since Soraya went to market about 15 years ago.

The project will include seven high-end luxury apartments over four levels.

The open plan apartments will each have three bedrooms and outdoor decks overlooking Crown reserve land and the beach to the east.

Mr Speirs said the complex was designed for the owner-occupier market due to pent-up demand stemming from the massive Tweed Valley Hospital development at Cudgen.

“It’s definitely turned out well with the renders and the design team we’ve had on board has been great,” he said.

“On the actual beachfront there have been developments along Marine Parade, but Murphys Road is located on the northern side of Kingscliff … it’s got beach access there so it’s a great location.”

The basement will include 14 carparking spaces plus two visitor carparking spaces and private storage.

Approval has been sought for the demolition of an existing two-storey home with garage and shed on the site to make way for the apartment complex.

“We’ll salvage all the latest materials from the site and hold off until next year for construction because there are still supply chain issues with construction materials,” Mr Speirs said.

“We want to have a clean run from next year and obviously there are some great products in the pipeline that are coming out and are great for the environment and that looks great as well.”

The project is by Condev Projects Pty Ltd. More information will be sought after the collapse of Gold Coast builder Condev Constructions last year.
