NAPLAN results reveal top schools across Tweed region

An independent analysis of newly released 2024 NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which performed the best in the years 5 and 9 across the Tweed. See where your school ranked.

Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School and Bhaktivedanta Swami Gurukula School struck gold and were ranked Tweed’s top performing NAPLAN schools in 2024.

An independent analysis of newly released 2024 NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests.

Bhaktivedanta Swami Gurukula School in Eungella had the best primary results of any school across the Tweed, scoring an average of 538.6.

“We also wish to recognise our teachers and the support staff for their dedication, care and professionalism in facilitating the top results in the Tweed area this year,” he said.

“The educational approach in our school has a strong emphasis on evidence-based teaching methodologies and targeted support to help students achieve their best.”

Murwillumbah Public School was the second best for the region with an average score of 526.2, while Mount St Patrick Primary School in Murwillumbah was the third best with an average score of 515.4.

The top performing secondary school was Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School in Terranora where the average result was 591.8.

Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School principal Stuart Marquardt said he was always proud of the students’ achievements and these results reflected their academic commitment and endeavour.

“It is good to be recognised as a leading school in the region and beyond. As the principal, you want your students to do well, however, the results from NAPLAN only tell part of the story,” he said.

“We have a holistic approach, so in addition to doing well in the classroom, we offer students a broad range of experiences across all learning areas.”

Mr Marquardt said there were many ways to measure success in schools and NAPLAN was just one of them.

Mount St Patrick College in Murwillumbah was the second best for the region with an average score of 580.0, while Tweed Valley Adventist College in Murwillumbah was the third best with an average score of 568.0.

To determine how each school performed in 2024, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Yr 5 or Yr 9) were combined and the average found.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
