A motorcyclist has died in hospital after slamming into the back of an SUV in the Tweed.
At about 12.15pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Numinbah Rd at Kynnumboon following reports of the collision.
Police discovered on scene the man was riding a Ducati motorcycle and had crashed into the back of a Mitsubishi Outlander.
The 65-year-old motorcyclist was flown to Gold Coast University Hospital with critical injuries.
The male driver of the SUV, 72, and a female passenger, 74, were uninjured.
The driver was taken to Murwillumbah District Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced.
Police were informed the rider had died in hospital on Monday.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage of the crash to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
