Police say charges are “unlikely” to be laid after an eight year-old boy was hit by a car on Tuesday afternoon in Casuarina.
Tweed Byron Police District Chief Inspector Michael Dempsey said it appeared the young boy may have been at fault in the incident.
“Inquires are continuing, but it looks like there won’t be any charges,” Insp Dempsey said.
A New South Wales Ambulance spokesman said paramedics were called to Kamala Crescent, Casuarina just after 4.30pm on Tuesday where the boy had been riding a bike before he was hit by a 4WD.
The spokesman said the boy had serious leg injuries.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter attended the scene before taking him to Gold Coast University Hospital with a leg fracture in a serious condition.
