Blair Wylde-Brown: Meth and cocaine dealer on parole jailed

A Bilambil businessman who was on parole for supplying drugs in another part of the state has returned to prison for once again dealing meth and cocaine.

Australia's growing drug crisis

A Bilambil businessman who was on parole for drug supply has been jailed after he continued to deal cocaine and meth - in the Tweed.

Blair Wylde-Brown was sentenced in Tweed Heads Local Court on April 7 after previously pleading guilty to two counts of supplying a prohibited drug, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug and dealing with proceeds of crime.

According to the agreed facts, police searched the 53-year-old’s Sierra Vista Boulevard home in Bilambil Heights on October 1, 2020.

There police found in his kitchen a bag marked “chemist pro” and inside this was a zip lock bag with 7.15g of meth, three supplements containers marked as “creatin” and two marked “MSM” - both commonly used cutting agents.

Officers also discovered two resealable bags containing 4.78g of cocaine in a bike bag.

Police further found two 2.01g of meth in two small resealable bags.

In Wylde-Brown’s wardrobe police found a laptop bag containing $10,000 in cash along with a further $3000 in cash in an envelope and $750 in a separate pile - a total of $13,750.

In the garage area police located large plastic resealable bags containing 136.4g of cocaine on a bench when Wylde-Brown admitted to the supply of cocaine.

He told police he would receive a message on a cypher phone from an unknown person with arrangements for cocaine to be left at his residence or business address.

He would then prepare the packages and disguise them between massage cushions before posting to the nominated addresses - being paid $1000 for his involvement.

He made full admissions in relation to possession of the items seized.

At the time he was on parole for drug supply offences in the Port Macquarie region.

In court barrister Steve Boland said Wylde-Brown’s life had been marked by tragic circumstances including losing his sister to leukaemia when he was aged six, his mother being killed by a drink driver and a troubled childhood.

Mr Boland said his client’s mental health took a turn for the worst when his best friend was murdered, and after that Wylde-Brown was charged for serious offending where he was found guilty after trial.

The latest matter was adjourned for a day before magistrate Geoff Dunlevy sentenced him.

Mr Dunlevy said Wylde-Brown stood out from many other offenders due to his intelligence and at times success running businesses.

“In many ways that makes your case even more tragic,” Mr Dunlevy said.

Wylde-Brown was convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison with a nine month non-parole period.

He is eligible for release on January 6, 2023.
