Corey Anthony Philip: Castlereagh RFS superintendent charged with historic child sex offence

A Rural Fire Service superintendent in greater Sydney has been charged after committing an alleged child sex offence in northern NSW.

A Rural Fire Service superintendent has been charged with historic aggravated sexual assault.

Corey Anthony Philip, 43, appeared in Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday facing the single charge.

He did not enter any plea.

According to court papers Mr Philip allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old boy between December 1 and December 24, 2003 on the Tweed Coast without consent, knowing he did not have consent.

Mr Philip now lives in Coonabarabran and is attached to the Castlereagh zone Rural Fire Service, according to court papers.

In court Mr Philip’s lawyer Corey Cullen organised a brief of evidence to be served.

The matter will next be in court on June 17 where Mr Philip is not required to appear.

He remains on bail.

A NSW Rural Fire Service spokesman confirmed Mr Philip has been suspended following his arrest and charge.

“A review of their employment and membership will be undertaken pending the outcome of the court proceedings,” he said.

“No further comment can be made as the matter is now before the courts.”
