But that hasn’t lessened the pain for Lyndal Archbold who was due to marry Raymond Pasnin before he was killed outside his mother’s home in 2013.
“I’ve got permanent back damage from the gun going into my back from trying to protect my fiance,” Ms Archbold said outside the NSW Supreme Court.

Minutes earlier, Mr Pasnin’s ex-girlfriend Louise Catherine Spiteri-Ahern was sentenced by Justice Stephen Rothman to 30 years in jail, with a non-parole period of 18 years, for organising and procuring the murder.
She was 23 when she paid hit man Daniel Haille at least $4000 to hide in the shadows and shoot her ex-lover outside the Pendle Hill address about midnight on October 30, 2013.
She was in a “joint criminal enterprise” with Haile, who was jailed for murder in 2016 for at least 24 years.
Justice Rothman said Spiteri-Ahern’s motive was not absolutely clear.
He noted there were varying versions of events, including that Mr Pasnin had stabbed Spiteri-Ahern “some significant time” before his murder, and that the hit man was organised because of Mr Pasnin’s demand or request that Spiteri- Ahern terminate a pregnancy during their relationship.

The judge said Mr Pasnin’s death has had an “immeasurable” effect on his family.
“It is a parent’s worst nightmare for their child to die by an act of violence,” Justice Rothman said.
“For it to occur essentially in their presence, and for Mr Pasnin to die in, essentially, the arms of his mother and his partner, must be horrendous.”
Mr Pasnin’s mother Salima Eid last month told the court she watched helplessly as her son took his final breath.
“I tried desperately to give him CPR... he was just gasping for air,” she said.
As Spiteri-Ahern was taken away, a woman in the public gallery rose to her feet and shouted: “I hope you burn in hell, burn in hell, you deserve everything that is coming for you”.
Spiteri-Ahern looked up to her two female supporters and said: “It’s not over, I love you.”
Her sentence was backdated to mid-2015 and she will be eligible for parole from June 21, 2033.
