Police search Byron Bay bushland for missing woman Thea Liddle
Police are desperately searching bushland in Byron Bay for “transient” missing woman Thea Liddle, who has been missing since before Christmas.

POLICE are scouring bushland on the state’s north coast for a “nomadic” woman who vanished before Christmas.
Officers on Tuesday were seen entering bushland near Byron Bay’s town centre, searching for any sign of Thea Liddle, 42.
Tweed-Byron Bay district Commander Superintendent David Roptell said Ms Liddle was known to live a nomadic lifestyle and frequented the Byron Bay, Nimbin and Mooball areas but “would always come back and touch base with her family”.
“Thea lived a very transient lifestyle — shifting from place to place, changing campsites often and would opt for places in remote bushland away from the public,” he said. “We are conducting thorough searches throughout these locations for any indication of Thea’s presence there.”
Ms Liddle was last seen in the Mooball area on October 31, 2019, but was not reported missing to police until January after she failed to contact her family at Christmas.
She has not touched her bank account, laptop or phone since she was last seen.
At the time of her disappearance, Ms Liddle had been staying at a Mooball property with a 46-year-old man. Police searched his property in May, looking for Ms Liddle’s body.
