It is alleged Ms Mehajer was “told to walk home,” by police after she was issued with a defective vehicle notice because police claimed the side exhaust on the car did not meet Australian standards.

Cr Mehajer said they never stopped driving the Mercedes even after the defect notice was issued.

He confirmed to The Daily Telegraph that police withdrew the defect notice after they threatened to sue.

“Yes they withdrew the fine - after we wrote to them suggesting that they withdraw to avoid us before we sue for damages.”
