A TEEN has been charged, accused of stabbing a teacher and two students at a school in Sydney’s west earlier yesterday.

Popular science teacher Carolyn Cox was allegedly stabbed after trying to intervene during an incident at Bonnyrigg High School

Police allege the 48-year-old was opening a classroom about 8.45am when she was stabbed in the back by the teen.

The 16-year-old boy also allegedly stabbed two Year 11 students — another 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old girl before he was chased down by police at a nearby Aldi supermarket.

Police were called to the scene and arrested the 16-year-old in a nearby car park after a short chase.

He was charged with cause wounding with intent to murder and two counts of wounding a person with intent to cause grevious bodily harm.

The teen will face court tomorrow. Two knives were allegedly seized.

Video of the arrest shows him making a plea as he sat on the ground against a police car.

“I didn’t kill anyone — you have to tell my brother,” he says in the clip.

Ms Cox and the male student were taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment, and the girl was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

The male student was allegedly stabbed in the chest, while the girl was stabbed in the left shoulder.

Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The mother of the injured girl posted photos on Facebook of her daughter recovering in hospital.

“When I heard the news this morning about my daughter I was shaking, crying and most of all worried about my daughter,” she posted.

“Please parents be aware of what is happening at your child’s school. I hope that this does not happen to anybody else’s kids.”

A woman whose younger sister witnessed the stabbing said her sibling was badly shaken up by the attack.

The girl rang from the school to describe what had happened in the classroom.

“She just told me that someone in her roll call stabbed another kid and the teacher tried stopping it and (they) injured the teacher too,” the woman said via Facebook.

The alleged stabber was not known to them and the attack was described a one-off, local incident.

“This is not terrorism related, this is a local issue at a local school,” Superintendent Peter Lennon said.

“I don’t know what was in his mind.”

Lauren O’Reilly received a text message from her 11-year-old son saying, “Mum, someone has gone berserk”.

“He just said ‘I don’t know mum, some teacher got stabbed and two kids’,” Ms O’Reilly said.

“He’s my only child, I’ve never felt so sick in my life.”

Her son had only just started Year 7 at the school four days ago.

“I feel sick in the stomach.”

Silvia Rodao said her son’s Year 11 classmates were “freaking out”.

She’d just dropped her children off when she saw an ambulance and her son called to tell her there had been a stabbing.

“He said all the kids were scared. My oldest (a 25-year-old) son followed police and saw them chase him up here,” she said.

NSW Education Department said counselling and support would be available for affected students and staff.

As the new education year began this week principal Michael Bryce posted a video on the school’s Facebook page saying Bonnyrigg High was “one of the best schools in NSW”.
