It is alleged the boy walked into a science class at Bonnyrigg High School yesterday morning and stabbed the teacher and two students, a 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl.

Police claim the 48-year-old teacher was injured when she tried to protect one of the young victims as she opened her classroom at 8.45am.

Students were sitting in the class waiting for roll call when the boy walked in and stabbed the three victims prompting an entire school lockdown.

He was arrested at a nearby shopping centre carrying a backpack which allegedly contained other blades, including a box cutter, meat cleaver, scissors and screwdrivers.

Outside of Parramatta Children’s Court this morning his lawyer Ron Malouf indicated they would be contesting the charges.

“I don’t think the facts alleged against him support the charges,” he said.

Mr Malouf said the 16-year-old was known as a “nice boy”

“He is actually known to be a student that has had no bad reports so this is quite a shock,” he said.

He said the boy had provided “no explanation” for the drama that unfolded yesterday and that police had not identified a possible motive for the alleged attack.

The boy was supported in court by his distraught parents and other members of his family.

Ms Cox the boy and the girl were all taken to hospital with non-life threatening stab wounds.

Today in court a police prosecutor asked for an interim apprehended violence order against the accused on behalf of the three victims.

This was granted by Magistrate Albert Sbrizzi. The case was adjourned to March 3 for mention.
