MALCOLM Turnbull says the advice he has received from party officals makes him confident he can form a majority coalition government and slammed the tactics of the Labor campaign.
“Tonight, my friends, I can report that based on the advice I have from the party officials, we can have every confidence that we will form a coalition majority government in the next parliament,” he said. He said the “Labor Party ran some of the most systematic, well-funded lies ever peddled in Australian politics”. Earlier, Bill Shorten conceded it could be days before a result is known in the federal election but has told a packed ALP HQ that Labor is back and ready to keep fighting. The Labor leader entered the room to raucus applause and took to the stage to announce his party was back. “Friends, we will not know the outcome of this election tonight. Indeed, we may not know it for some days to come. But there is one thing for sure - the Labor Party is back,” he said to cheers. Watch the Sky News live stream below.
