Federal Election 2016: Bill Shorten’s election roll hits a snag

It was the sausage sizzle moment that could well decide the opposition leader’s fate. With the cameras rolling Bill Shorten somewhat awkwardly bit into the middle of the roll, rather than the end.

‘Who eats a sausage like that?’ It was the sausage sizzle moment that could well decide Opposition leader Bill Shorten’s fate.

Mr Shorten sparked controversy on social media when he bit into his sausage sandwich sideways.

“Tastes like democracy,” he said outside Strathfield North Public School.

But his unorthodox eating method drew gasps of shock when instead of starting at the end, Mr Shorten went straight for the middle.

He was then captured turning away from the cameras as he grappled with the snag.
