NRL star Tom Burgess marries partner Tahlia Giumelli at Watsons Bay

They were forced to postpone their wedding a number of times, mostly due to Covid-related setbacks, but NRL star Tom Burgess finally got to wed the mother of his two children, Tahlia Giumelli, on Friday.

After a few Covid-related setbacks, NRL player Tom Burgess and model Tahlia Giumelli tied the knot this afternoon

The couple made their relationship official during a ceremony at Sydney’s Watsons Bay, alongside family and friends, including his mother Julie Burgess and groomsmen brothers Luke, Sam and twin George.

The rain did nothing to ruin the highly anticipated event, with both Giumelli and Burgess unable to wipe the smiles from their faces as they said their vows during the romantic nuptials.

Giumelli, 29, sported a fuss-free look, opting for a simple and elegant slinky white silk gown. She had her hair pulled back in a low bun, completing the look with a veil.

She was beaming as the was walked down the aisle by her father, while carrying a bouquet of white orchids.

Rabbitohs player Burgess, also 29, looked smart in a light linen suit jacket, navy pants and a blue shirt.

Guests, including pub baron Stu Laundy, held umbrellas while watching on at Gibsons Beach reserve.

Noticeably absent was South Sydney Rabbitohs’s co-owner Russell Crowe, who was once considered a father figure to the Burgess brothers.

The relationship between Crowe and Sam Burgess is said to have been strained in recent months following the fallout from the end of Sam’s marriage to ex-wife Phoebe Burgess and allegations of questionable behaviour.

Prior to today’s the wedding, the couple enjoyed a family breakfast at Dunbar House in Watsons Bay, alongside Julie Burgess, Tom’s brothers and other family members.

The high-profile couple were forced to cancel their nuptials on several occasions, most recently in December, after Tom contracted Covid during a holiday to Byron Bay.

Their original wedding plans were due to take place last year, however were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent restrictions.

The pair announced their engagement on New Year’s Eve 2019, after three years of dating, and they have two daughters — Sophie, two, and Elodie, one.

The couple’s relationship first made headlines in April 2017. At the time, The Daily Telegraph reported they had been quietly dating for at least six months.

In January last year the couple splashed out $2.61 million on a property in Woolooware in the Sydney’s Sutherland Shire.
