NRL WAG Tahlia Giumelli has revealed she is struggling with motherhood one week after welcoming her second child at 36 weeks.
The glamorous fiancée of NRL star Tom Burgess, 28, gave fans a raw glimpse into her life as a mother-of-two and said while she feels “very fortunate” to have her family, having a premature baby has been tough.
“It was a week ago today we welcomed Elodie into the world. Quickly and unexpected, I mean yes we knew we were having a baby but we thought we had a few more weeks to prepare,” Giumelli, 28, wrote on Instagram.
“This isn’t a sympathy post, I don’t need sympathy I’m very fortunate to have what I have, this is a post to remind people that there is Instagram and reality and this was our reality this week. . . Tears. Lots and lots of tears. Tears of happiness, from feeling overwhelmed, frustration and anger.”
The model, who is a mum to newborn daughter Elodie and one-year-old Sophie, said in addition to feeling exhausted as a new mum, she was struck down with gastro which heightened her stress.
“The few days after Elodie arrived we were running around like mad trying to buy prams, install car seats and buying newborn clothes to get us through for a few days and getting the hang of nursing a prem baby,” she wrote.
“As soon as we felt we were settled Sophie gets hit with gastro (and bounces back like a champ) then 5 days post-partum I catch the gastro bug which is extremely exhausting on top of already being exhausted, I didn’t think I had the mental capacity to take on much more and then Tom got hit with it too.
“Once I was in hospital on a drip I just cried and cried. I cried because I felt like I was missing out on the newborn bubble, cried because I was tired and exhausted, I cried because this wasn’t how I imagine being a mum of two was going to be like.”
Giumelli and Rabbitohs prop Burgess, who announced their engagement in January, welcomed the birth of baby Elodie last week, with the bub weighing in at 3.5kg after a 5-hour labour.
